Vanilla Martini's & Cheshire Cats
Total Gluttony. That's a tad dramatic, but I feel like I've been a little hedonist these days.
I just got back from Bunko night. My stomach HATES me. Have you ever had a vanilla martini? The first sip is smooth, the second sip is sweet, the third sip is really sweet, every sip after that is stomach turning. I'm just not a big vodka drinker. I guess that's not entirely true. I like greyhounds. But as far as cocktails go, I usually go for the gin and tonic. I have to admit, I'm kinda cute with the gin blossoms. Maybe I'm just too old for sugar rimmed, maraschino cherry skewered drinks.
BTW... I have to mention I'm very grateful to Kit for watching AYCO this weekend. His posts were far beyond my expectations and very thoughtful. Thanks Kit.
So... not sure how much I want to say about my trip. LA feels very comfortable to me. It's hard to explain. It just feels easy. In some ways I enjoy a fair amount of attention because I'm an outsider. I do stick out like a sore thumb and I think it creates an air of interest that I wouldn't enjoy if I was local. Like I said, it's hard to explain. Opportunities seem to find me when I'm there and it's a little unreal. I can't help but wonder outloud what it would be like if I moved there.
AND as if I didn't have enough to think about I've allowed myself to daydream about a certain smile that's been confusing to me since I first saw it. My own little cheshire cat I suppose. ;).

The first martini I ever had was a key lime martini, and let me tell you, that was not a good night. Part of it probably had to do with the fact that I had been drinking, but I know the martini did not help my situation.
Ever since that night, Vodka makes my stomach hurt as soon as I get it in my mouth.

Los Angeles and Vanilla Martini's? You need to come to NYC and be detoxed quick! We'll have you drinking real man drinks like a woman (or something like that).
Anyway, when opportunity knocks you got to get up and answer the door blah blah blah. Keep us posted!

Look at that mountain
Look at those trees
Look at that bum over there, man
He's down on his knees
Look at these women
There ain't nothin' like 'em nowhere

That -- and the proper company -- would leave anyone smiling.

Maritza & Max
The vanilla martini's were actually from Colorado. Reminded me of Mame and those horrible honey daiquiri's. Vodka and Tequila are not friends of mine.
Kit
I don't know if they have a pill for my condition. ;)

Hi K, I truly appreciate your support on my Quit Smoking Campaign. I'm taking my chances by doing it and trying to hide my ashtrays and cigarettes, preferably with water, so no part of them is smokeable.

K Speaking...
I really do support your effort to quit. I just hate being one of those good luck people. It has nothing to do with luck.. Just will power I suppose. Not average everyday will power. Teenage, insecure, anorexic, pathological type will power.
Seems I'm the voice of doom with you. ;) Don't mean to be. Really :D

Forget that going to NYC for detox stuff. Come on down south. We'll give you a little Southern Comfort. Take you to get some BBQ ribs. Walk on Beale St. Have a few too many Hurricanes. Watch the sunset on the Mississippi River and dance the night away.

I'm with Maritza. We believe in real drinks in New York! Vanilla Martini? Um, no. As for LA, I lasted about 6 months there - but I still like it and I'll be out there this summer.

Phillip- You charmer you. If i didn't know better, I would guess you were wearing peppercoated, burn my mouth, spicy hot underpants! ;)
Jeffrey.. Y thank you.
Nichelle.. I agree... I was not down with the vanilla martini.. or any martini really. LA is strange, but I never have a bad day there. Even when it was dumping buckets and terrible good things still happened to me. Maybe it's just a lucky city for me. K
